Tradesolution EPD (Elektronisk PrisDatabase — Electronic Price Database) is Norway's GDSN-certified product information database, operated by Tradesolution AS on behalf of GS1 Norway. EPD is the mandatory platform for product data exchange between suppliers and retailers in Norway. All major Norwegian grocery chains — NorgesGruppen, Coop Norway, and Rema 1000 — receive product master data exclusively through EPD.
Through the GDSN Norway connector you can reach all major Norwegian retailers: NorgesGruppen (~44% market share, including Kiwi, Meny, Joker, and Spar Norway), Coop Norway (~29% market share), Rema 1000 (~23% market share), and Bunnpris. These four groups account for nearly 100% of Norway's organised grocery retail.
Norwegian GDSN compliance through EPD requires Norwegian-language product descriptions, compliance with EU food labelling standards adapted for Norwegian law, Norwegian allergen declarations, GPC (Global Product Classification) codes, valid GTINs, and Norwegian net content units. Tradesolution EPD also enforces Norwegian-specific attribute sets that differ from EU standard GDSN schemas.
Norway's food retail market is approximately NOK 310 billion (€27B) annually. The market is uniquely concentrated — just three groups (NorgesGruppen, Coop, Rema 1000) control ~96% of all grocery retail. EPD compliance is non-negotiable: without a valid EPD product record, no product can be listed in any major Norwegian retailer.
Tradesolution EPD is one of the most tightly integrated GDSN implementations in Europe. Unlike some markets where GDSN is optional, EPD is the mandatory channel for all product data in Norway. EPD also maintains price lists alongside product data, making it a combined product information and pricing system — unusual in the GDSN world.
Traditional EPD integration requires Tradesolution membership, custom API development, and understanding of Norwegian-specific data requirements. Syncra provides a plug-and-play connector with pre-built EPD API integration, automatic mapping to Norwegian compliance requirements, and a unified dashboard — enabling you to manage Norway alongside your other European markets.
